Fresh Face

So I've been a little creatively bored lately and I decided to give my room a face lift. I something fresh and crisp with an edge of whimsy. I finally decided on the obvious choice for a fresh look...white (all white!). I know what you are thinking, its too boring, but I decided to add a chalkboard wall for my hint of "whimsy." I haven't finished the project yet but I figured I would add some "inspiration" pictures...courtesy of the always-wonderful Pinterest.

Red Velvet Bliss

The weather has begun to feel a little bit chillier and I am reminded that the holidays (the most wonderful time of the year...) are just around the corner. With this time of year comes the somewhat inexplicable (yet amazing) need for baked goods to be at every gathering. So I've taken the next few weeks as "prep time" for this wondrous season... first up, red velvet cupcakes!

I used this recipe. I found the cake to be the perfect consistency and the frosting to die for! My favorite part about red velvet cupcakes for the holidays is that they are festive enough (the red coloring, the "snow like" frosting) without being too obvious a choice. I topped them off with an adorable baking cup, (a similar one found here) some candy pearls, and a bow!

Grand Opening!

So for a while I've been toying with the idea of opening an Etsy shop. I've always loved looking for vintage "finds" in thrift stores and yard sales, so today I finally did it-I opened a shop! Check it out here! I've only listed a few items but I'm just getting going... here are a few pictures of what I've got now.

As you might be able to tell I'm a little (or a lot) bit obsessed with the 70's (see my Almost Famous inspired post), so everything I am selling at the moment is from that time. Enjoy...

Movies that Inspire

The other day I was watching TV and Almost Famous came on. Not only was I reminded how much I love the 1970s, but I was also reminded how it feels when you watch a movie you truly love. Whether it is the actors, the plot, the cinematography, or the soundtrack (& the list goes on) there is nothing quite like watching your favorite movie. I find that different films inspire me in different ways, whether it is to try my hand at guitar or to get my butt to the gym.

While my taste may seem a little jumbled- I believe in balance (both a rom-com and an action film are included). Here are my top five favorite movies that inspire...enjoy.

 1. Almost Famous (as previously mentioned)

Cape Cod

This week we drove down to cape cod for a short impromptu vacation. The trip was full of good food and adorable shopping all over the cape. I've found that I enjoy the cape more in the off-season. There is something so prefect about walking the (near) empty streets and being able to appreciate the quaintness of the towns without the crowded-ness (and traffic) normally associated with cape cod.
